The Museum of Discovery and Science (MODS) and the Deerfield Beach Community Redevelopment Agency (DBCRA) have joined together to plan a 10,000 sq ft marine science center. Dubbed Seagrass to Sawgrass, the center’s focus will be on the interconnectedness of Florida’s marine ecosystem, promoting environmental responsibility and preservation. The center plans to deliver quality, year-round support for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) to area schools. The museum will design the educational programs, and the DBCRA will design and fund project construction.
Joseph P. Cox, president and CEO of MODS, recently stated:
“The Museum of Discovery and Science is thrilled to partner with the City of Deerfield Beach to develop and bring this cutting-edge marine science center to both residents and tourists.”
The museum has been recognized for its innovative educational programs, including its Caretakers of Wonder, an educational program for young children, as well as its MODS STEMobile program, which delivers over 60,000 free or low-cost science and technology learning programs every year.
The new complex will be located in Sullivan Park and is scheduled to open in the summer of 2026. Poster printing is effective for announcing grand openings.
