Deerfield Beach residents should note that the Florida Atlantic University (FAU) College of Science will be holding the Diversity in Science Festival next month for both current students and high school students who are looking at college options.
FAU is located in Boca Raton, only six miles from Deerfield Beach. Its College of Science’s Diversity and Inclusion (DEI) Committee will oversee the organizing of the festival, which falls in line with the committee’s platform of promoting inclusion, diversity, and equity in the science field. Organizers hope to show minority students (incoming and current) that they are represented in science and to promote thoughtful discussions on how to further expand that representation.
The festival will feature interactive games and activities, science exhibitions, and lunch. There will also be open forums and DEI talks, including the Frontiers in Science Keynote speaker, J. The FAU Diversity in Science Festival is scheduled for March 25, beginning at 12:00 pm. Florida Atlantic University is located on 777 Glades Road. Event activities will take place in the FAU Breezeway and the Sanson Life Sciences Patio. Attendance is free, and those attending will be required to wear face masks per COVID guidelines.
