Next month, the Change Me Foundation, Inc., will host the Walk in My Shoes Children Mental Health Awareness 5K Run/Walk in Deerfield Beach.
The Change Me Foundation is a non-profit dedicated to educating and empowering at-risk or vulnerable individuals, such as the homeless, veteran, and senior communities. It also focuses on providing resources for families of children with behavioral, emotional, or mental health issues. The 5K next month will raise money for the Change Me Foundation’s programs focused on the well-being of youth with mental illness and their families.
The race will be an out-and-back course, and awards will be handed out for overall male and female winner as well as top three male and female in each designated age category. There will also be plenty of activities for spectators, children, and adults to keep them occupied during the race. Afterwards, there will be music, food, and more festivities at Bald Eagle Pavilion.
Everyone who finishes will get a medal of completion, and all participants will receive a collectable run bib and a specialized T-shirt with the event Logo Design. Runners and walkers who upload a photo or video of themselves doing the run will also receive a gold medal.
The event is scheduled for Saturday, May 20 from 7:00 am to 1:00 pm. It will be held at 401 Powerline Road. The registration fee is $35.
