Next month, Deerfield Beach will present Sea the Reef: Art Show, an art exhibition presented by Lele Art Lab’s teen environmental artists.
The art exhibition will be a free community event that will draw attention to environmental conservation and sustainability, as well as help increase ocean literacy within the community. The event is hosted by Lele Art Lab, which is led by National Geographic-certified educator Alexa Simeone. South Florida’s first mobile art lab, which converts marine debris into art and transforms beaches into immersive classrooms, was founded by Simeone. The lab has been praised for its innovative approach to introducing youth to ocean environments and sustainability issues.
The exhibition will feature coral sculptures made by the students of the Lele Art Lab. The public will learn about the processes behind this work, as well as make coral sculptures of their own. There will be maker stations set up in which attendees can learn how to sculpt their own coral artwork, while learning about how they can do their part to protect the ocean and its coral reefs.
Art exhibitions such as this may be advertised at local schools, colleges, and libraries through flyer printing and distribution.
The exhibition is scheduled for Saturday, June 3 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. It will take place at 200 NE 21st Avenue, right next to the fishing pier.
