Deerfield Beach 5K to benefit local autism programs
Deerfield Beach will host the 4th Annual Think Blue 5K next month to raise money for the therapeutic and education services of the non-profit Love Serving Autism.
Love Serving Autism is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide life skills training, especially in the area of functional communication, to those individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Developmental Challenges. Using multidisciplinary methods and specialized efforts, the organization teaches these crucial life skills through tennis instruction. The goal is for the participants to improve their community interaction and build independence as they transfer the skills learned into real-world application.
Organized by Victory Sports Management, the Think Blue 5K will be a chip-timed course, and awards will be given out to the top three runners overall (male and female), masters, and senior masters categories, and all the age group categories. There will be musical entertainment by DJ Petey. Participant packet pickup will be available the morning of the race. Running events like this often include a T-shirt with the event logo design and other themed goodies as part of the registration packet.
The 5K is scheduled for April 3. Registration and packet pickup is at 6:30 am, and the race begins at 7:30 am. It will take place at Quiet Waters Park on 401 South Powerline Road. Registration is $35.
