Public library pays tribute to makers this September

The Broward Public Library system is hosting Maker’s Month for month of this month. All branches will be offering a variety of free activities for adults, teens, and children to recognize it.

There will be approximately 36 different workshops taking place in different branches. The South Regional branch will be offering a Grandparent's Day Craft workshop on September 6, while the North Regional branch will be hosting a ‘Construct This!’ event in which participants will create a structure using LEGO and the main branch will have a pop-up book workshop for the entire family.

The Northwest Regional branch in Coral Springs is set to host ‘Sewing for teens: making pillow cases/throw pillow cover’ and ‘There's an app for that’ for adults.

All through the month, the main library branch is offering access to a creation station, which lets anyone design and make 3D items. This includes 3D printers, tablets, and design software such as Photoshop.

The program represents an opportunity for the libraries to attract people who may have not visited in the first place. In order to let the community know about the month's events, organizers may decide to work with Coral Springs printing companies to create a flyer to mail out to the community.

Maker’s Month at the Broward County Library is taking place from September 6 to 30.
