The Broward County Library here in Coral Springs will celebrate Kwanza online for two days this month.
The Cultural Center and the African American Research Library staff will begin their virtual Kwanza gala with The Kwanza Kickoff Celebration.
The seven principles of Kwanza, which include self-determination and collective economics, will be discussed. Workshops covering these principles will take place over the eight-hour period. There will also be a discussion of developing a community five-year plan starting in 2021.
The BCL Kwanza Kickoff Celebration will begin at 10:00 am on Saturday, December 26.
On the next afternoon, December 27, from 4:00 pm until 5:00 pm, the online celebration will continue with Kwanza Celebration- Kujichagulia: Self Determination.
Kimberly McNaught will emcee the event. Guests will be Jordan Golding who will demonstrate drumming and the Kizomba Heart2Heart Dancers. Tiffani Knowles, Global Business Lending co-founder and journalist, will give the Keynote speech. Ms. Knowles will discuss Kujichagulia, or self-determination, for the new year.
Both events will be free on WebEx and will require registration at the Broward.org website. Confirmation will be sent to patrons’ email. Devices supporting Windows Media Player 9.0 or later or Adobe Flash Players 6.0 or later will be required.
Families celebrating Kwanza often snap pictures of themselves in traditional garb. These photos can be taken to local Stationery printers to be made into personalized Kwanza Holiday Cards. Get a Free Quote for Holiday Cards Get a Free Quote for Stationery
