Event brings two environmental days together

The City of Coral Springs will be combining Earth Day and Arbor Day with an EarthFest celebration coming in late April.

The free celebration will offer nature exhibits and Coral Springs residents can receive free plants. Guests will get information on such topics as the city’s Backyard Habitat Program and the proposed Sustainability Action Plan.

Volunteers from The Coral Springs Community Garden - a project run by resident volunteers, the Rotary Club of Coral Springs, and the City of Coral Springs – will discuss herbs, perennial plants, vegetables, a food forest, and the memorial garden they hope to establish.

In keeping with Earth Day, the city will begin its second 2022 Keep Coral Springs Beautiful Clean-Up at 9:00 am. Motorists will want to be on the lookout for volunteers who will be picking up litter and cleaning trash along streets and in Coral Springs neighborhoods.

Coral Springs residents who are 14 years of age or older are encouraged to signup on the website to receive up-to-date information and assigned locations. Bright yellow and black T-Shirts sporting the Keep Coral Springs logo design will be worn by each volunteer. Lunch will be provided afterwards in Mullins Park. Registered participants will be eligible for raffle prizes. The project should end around 1:00 pm.

EarthFest has been scheduled from 9:00 am to noon on Saturday, April 23 at Sawgrass Nature Center & Wildlife Hospital, 3000 Sportsplex Drive.
