Chinese art on show in Coral Springs

Coral Springs Museum of Art is hosting three Chinese art exhibits.

The Main Gallery houses Xu De Qui’s ‘China Art Now’. Xu De Qi‘s works blend 1960s and 1970s Western poster styling and pop art with more traditional Chinese realism. His pieces reflect China’s modernism and are upbeat and full of optimism. Although some of his most popular and well-known pieces have Mao and Andy Warhol as subjects, most of his work depicts strong, secure, and proud Chinese women.

Another, also titled ‘China Art Now’ will be in the East Gallery. This exhibition shows the work of textile design artist and painter, Zhang Hong Mei. Zhang’s work depicts a journey from Chinese realism to abstraction.

The third exhibit is in the Kuhn Gallery and is titled ‘The Charm of Chinese Brush Painting’ by Yifei Zhou. He uses black ink in various shades along with colorful brush strokes to depict animals, flowers, plants and landscapes on canvas.

These types of art make potentially interesting subjects for poster printing, note cards, and Stationery.

These three exhibitions will run until August 17 at the Coral Springs Museum of Art, 2855 Coral Springs Drive. The museum is open from 10:00 am until 5:00 pm. Admission is $6 for adults, $3 for children from the age of 6 to 17, and $5 for seniors. Children under five years old get in free.
