Old and new events planned for June

Clermont will be celebrating dogs with its traditional Pups in the Park, and freedom with its inaugural Juneteenth Celebration in mid-June.

The City of Clermont cordially invites all dogs and their owners to the city’s annual Pup in the Park. The event will be free and features activities for pooches and those who love them.

Pups can enjoy Puppuccinos (small cups of whipped cream from Starbucks), experience the agility course, and participate in the Dog Swimsuit competition and parade.

Winners of contests such as this often have their pictures taken to local Stationery printers to be added to family Calendars.

This year’s Pups in the Park will take place Saturday, June 11 from 8:30 am to 11:30 am at Lake Hiawatha Preserve, 450 12th Street.

A week later, the city will have its first Juneteenth Celebration. The event will feature music, art and authentic cuisine. Local businesses will be passing out Business Cards about their goods and services, retailers will be vending products, and non-profit organizations will be manning booths distributing information about their locations, hours of operation, and mission statements. Food will be available in a special tent and from trucks.

Event organizers are currently looking for performers, singers, dancers, artists, and vendors.

This first City of Clermont Juneteenth Celebration will take place Saturday, June 18 from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Waterfront Park, 300 3rd Street.
