This year’s annual holiday tradition, Light Up Clermont, will have the theme ‘Candy Land’.
The event will once again include a parade through downtown, community tree-lighting ceremony a carol singalong and holiday inspirational talks.
This will be the 28th annual ‘Light Up Clermont’ Holiday Festival Parade. Floats on single vehicles, as well as trailers up to and longer than 25 feet, will be part of the traditional parade. Music will be blaring from many of the floats. There will be a judges’ reviewing stand and bands will be required to play the entire length of the parade route.
First and second place trophies will be given in categories including Juvenile Float, Adult Float, High School Band, Marching Group, Performing Group, and Decorated Vehicle. Points will be accumulated on best use of theme, music, originality, performance and uniforms/costumes. Santa will be bringing up the rear of the parade.
Vendors will be along the parade to sell traditional holiday fare. Local businesses will have spaces and their representatives will be passing out information Flyers about their products and services, along with freebies and coupons. Local arts and crafters will also be selling their handmade specialties.
The parade will be Saturday, December 3, starting at 1:00 pm. The two-mile route will begin at the Lake Minneola Boat Ramp and go through Historic Downtown Clermont. The holiday ceremony will be at the Clermont Arts and Recreation Center at 3700 S. Highway 27 after the parade.
