Clermont to put on its running shoes

Clermont will be hosting the Central Florida Triathlon Series Race 3, which will be called ‘Sixties Flower Power’.

Participants will be competing in one or all three events. The two triathlons will be a swim, bike, and run, while a duathlon will be a run, bike, and second run.

The Sprint Triathlon will start with a 440-yard swim, followed by an 11-mile bike ride. It will end with a 5K run. The Super Fun Sprint Triathlon will begin with a 200-yard swim, then an 8-mile bike ride and finally a 2-mile run. The Duathlon will begin with a one-mile run, then athletes will bike for 11 miles and run a 5K.

Participants will receive finisher medals and event tech shirts. Food and entertainment will be on hand after the race. Awards will be handed out to winners of the Sprint Triathlon. Family and friends will want to take photos of their winning athletes for future poster printing.

The event will be held Saturday, August 13, at Waterfront Park, 330 3rd Street here in Clermont. Packet pickup and late registration will be from 6:00 am until 7:00 am. The Transition Area will be opened from 6:00 am until 7:15 am. The first wave of the triathlon will start at 7:15 am followed by the Cool Summer Morning 5K start at 7:45 am. Awards ceremony will begin at 10:00 am.
