Clermont to host bike racing clinic

For all those bike racing fans in Clermont who may want to try their hand at racing, USA Cycling will be hosting its KyleCoaching Beginner Racer Program later this month.

New riders and those in the USA Cycling Category 5 are invited to participate. Both men and women can register. The program is free.

This will be an opportunity for potential racers to learn bike racing dynamics and skills in a welcoming and safe environment. The five-day clinic will have a morning session and two afternoon sessions. The morning session will cover fundamental racing skills, and the late morning/afternoon session will be mentored rides throughout Central Florida. Following the ride, the clinic will close with a race debriefing session.

The components of the curriculum will include basic pack skills, which will be a discussion on protecting the front wheel. The second day will discuss cornering, which will explain choosing and holding the line. The third day will be a discussion on skills and pack awareness, and the fourth will cover sprinting basics. The last day of the clinic will discuss incorporating all the information covered in the prior days.

Promotional items are available in the Team USA Cycling Shop.

The men’s road program will begin at 8:00 am on January 17 and January 22, with men and women starts at 8:00 am January 18 through 21, at KyleCoaching, 7441 Collins Way, Clermont.
