Clermont to get a taste of the Caribbean

Next week, the Caribbean American Association of Lake County, along with the City of Clermont will be presenting its Taste of the Caribbean & Jerk Festival.

This event is to celebrate Caribbean American Heritage Month, and will showcase music, food and cultures from the different islands in the Caribbean.

The live music will include reggae tribute to Bob Marley, live calypso, Indian dance, and a steel band. Gospel and country music will also be included. Some musical groups will be Hal Anthony and Millennium Band, the Supertones, Sherell Rosegreer, Lake Steel Orchestra, and Captain Cupido.

Other entertainment will be the Domino Tournament and an Island Parade. Little ones can enjoy the Kids Zone, where there will be a bounce house, a clown, story time, and an assortment of games. Vendors for food and nonfood, such as information distribution and exhibitors, will also be on hand.

The event will have a brochure in which all vendors can advertise their wares. All participants did their utmost to get their information to the event organizers before the brochure printing, with the last day for the artwork and entries back on May 6.

Everyone will want to clear their schedule for Saturday, June 11, from 12:00 pm until 9:00 pm. The event will take place at the Clermont Waterfront Park, 100 Third Street, Clermont.
