Many Clermont Halloween revelers will be taking part in the Sommer Sports Nightmare 5k on the Clermont Trails in the Harvest Preserve coming in late October.
The course will be decorated with foggy paths, spooky lights, cobweb-covered trees and glowing pumpkins. The Mad Scientist's Lab, Zombie Graveyard and Haunted Forest will be teeming with creepy props and live actors. Trick-or-treat stations will be passing out Halloween goodies, and a live DJ will be adding to the ambience with haunting soundtracks and classic tunes.
Everyone is encouraged to enter the costume contest. Winners of the best costumed group, crowd favorite and scariest will each win $100 cash. Winners in other categories will receive merchandise awards.
Race awards will go to top female and male overall finishers and to the top masters and top three female and male finishers in five-year age divisions.
Early adult registration will be $42, and kids, teens and senior citizens can run for $35.
Swag will include black T-Shirts and finisher medals sporting a clown graphic design.
Race packets will be available at Suncreek Brewery, 790 W Minneola Avenue from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday, October 25th and from 4:00 pm to 6:30 pm at the race venue on race day.
The Nightmare 5k will begin at 6:30 pm, Saturday October 26th beginning at 938 Victory Way.
