Clermont readies for annual salsa and sips festival

September is the time that Clermont gets ready for its annual Sips & Salsa Festival. The six-hour event will bring the community together for cultural cuisine, dancing, and plenty of music.

Activities are being planned for the whole family, and younger attendees can play in their own Kids Zone.

The salsa making contest will be strictly limited to traditional recipes. These will include fresh tomatoes, onion, cilantro, chilies, tomatoes, lime, salt and spices. All preparations will be done at the event. The event organizers are expecting from 150 to 200 guests to sample the entries. Awards will be given to the spiciest salsa and the most original.

Chihuahua owners need to sign up their pets as soon as possible for the Chihuahua Races, as there are only places for 50 dogs. Each pooch must weight 15lb or less and accompanied by two handlers, with costumes encouraged. Heats will be going on during the festival and first, second, and third place winners will get trophies.

The traditional Domino Tournament will be free, and domino tabletops sporting the event Logo Design will be among the prizes.

The Clermont Sips & Salsa Festival will be September 8 in Downtown Clermont from 4:00 pm until 10:00 pm. The Domino Tournament begins at 4:00 pm at 8th Street and Mineola Ave. There will be no fee to enter.
