In a few days, Clermont will once again support the local Project Scholars initiative by attending the Pig on the Pond Community Festival. This three-day event usually brings in over 20,000 visitors.
Live entertainment will include the Randall Crawford Band, Not Just Dance, Clermont Middle School’s Jazz Ensemble, and the T Scott TopRockets.
Although homemade off-the-grill BBQ will be in abundance, the main food draw will be the Chili Cook-Off from 5:00 pm until 10:00 pm on the Friday. The cook-off will have four categories - Chef’s Showdown, Community Showdown, People’s Choice and Best Table Presentation. Criteria for the showdowns will be taste, aroma, aftertaste and general impression. Visitors will be voting for the People’s Choice award, which will also include effort, and consumer and community connection.
The best table presentation award will be based on effort, originality and general impression. Winners at events like this take pictures of their prize-winning tables. They may take the pictures to local Print shops for poster printing, and then advertising.
There will be a Kids Zone on Saturday, fireworks on Saturday evening, and a midway with carnival rides and games throughout the three days.
Over 50 local businesses are ether sponsoring or participating this year, and more than 20 nonprofits will be giving out information about their programs.
Pig on the Pond will run from March 8 through 10 at the Clermont Waterfront Park, 100 3rd Street.
