New Beginnings of Central Florida will be holding its 2018 Clermont Waterfront Festival early in May. The day will feature three types of races, stage entertainment, a kids’ zone, and craft and food vendors.
The morning of the festival will begin with a 5K run/walk. Participants will enjoy free breakfast, finishers’ medals, and T-Shirts sporting the event’s graphic design. Awards will be handed out to the top male and female finishers in each of the 15 age divisions, and to the top overall finisher of both genders. A two-person canoe race will follow the free pancake breakfast.
The main activities of the day will be the Dragon Boat Races that will be held throughout the event. Racing classes this year will be Club Mixed, Club Open, BCS, Club Women, Corporate Festival Mixed, and Community Festival Mixed. The course will be 350m long and there will be two divisions – 20 paddler and 10 paddler. Each team will race at least three times.
A festival will be onsite that will have live entertainment on the venue’s stage, a kids’ zone and plenty of food and crafts. Local vendors will also be exhibiting and selling goods and services.
Clermont Waterfront Festival will take place May 5 from 7:30 am until 4:00 pm at Lake Minneola Waterfront Park at 330 3rd Street. The 5K run/walk will begin at 7:30 am.
