Clermont heads for the waterfront for its traditional 4th of July celebration

The city of Clermont will again be celebrating its own 4th of July with Red, White and Boom.

The event will be an all-day affair with American-themed activities for all, and will end with fireworks shot over Lake Minneola.

The city claims to have put together the ‘Best Fireworks in South Lake County’. More than 5,000 spectators are expected for what will be the second year for the event.

Local businesses will have booths displaying their services and products. Nonprofits will be passing out Brochures and Flyers explaining their missions and services. Artists and craftspeople will also be exhibiting and selling their creations.

If this celebration is anything like last year, there will be a pie-eating contest, sack races, and glow-in-the-dark face painting. Of course, lots of food trucks will be selling traditional summer fare of burgers, hotdogs, ice cream and cotton candy. Organizers suggest bringing a blanket or lawn chair to enjoy the two stages of live music.

This may be a good time to get the information to local organizations before their newsletter printing.

As to be expected, the event will be held July 4 at Waterfront Park, 330 3rd Street, Clermont. Gates will open at 6:00 pm, and the fireworks will begin at 9:15 pm. Gates will close at 10:00 pm.
