Clermont families run and eat for charity

Becoming a Better You Inc. is holding two fundraisers on the same day in April.

Festivities will begin with a Race for Our Youth 5K. Participants will run or walk around the city to create awareness for the organization and its mission. The organization’s mission is to provide tools, leadership and professional programs such as Ticket to Work and on the job training plus other resources for Clermont at-risk youth aged 14 to 21.

Registration is $25. Along with race day access, registration will come with a T-shirt sporting this year’s event graphic design, backpack and water bottle. The number of shirts is limited, so participants are advised to register as soon as possible.

Later that morning, a community Family Fest will take over the park. The event will feature local artists, live music and food from businesses in Lake County such as Oh My Grill. Items that can be purchased include chicken, ribs, drinks, coleslaw, baked beans, and desserts. Chicken or ribs plates will be available for $12.

Although admission to the fest will be free, organizers encourage registration on either the organization’s website or Eventbrite.

The 5k Run/Walk will take place at Clermont Waterfront Park, 330 3rd Street, from 8:00 am until 11:30 am, Saturday, April 10.

The Family Fest will begin at 11:00 am and go until 3:00 pm on Saturday, April 10 at Waterfront Park.
