Lake County Keep Lake Beautiful and the City of Clermont Environmental Services Department have banded together to celebrate Earth Day.
By combining forces, they will be offering hundreds if Lake County residents a day of Environmental Education and fun while encouraging volunteers to clean up Lake Hiawatha.
The whole family is invited to enjoy Earth Day, where kids can enjoy their own Earth Kids Zone and meet Eco the frog. There will be booths of local vendors offering environmental education, interactive games, and displays. Many will be passing out Flyers about their products and services and giving away free Promotional Products. A local DJ will be dishing out live music and other entertainment will also be on the stage throughout the day, while nonprofit food vendors will be selling seasonal treats.
Volunteers will be collecting garbage from Lake Hiawatha. This year’s goal will be to gather more than last year’s total of 15,000lb. Prizes will be awarded to youngest and oldest participants, most weight, and oddest object found.
The dual event is scheduled for April 22, from 8:00 am until 2:00 pm at the Lake Hiawatha Preserve, 450 N. 12th Street/State Road 561, which is west of the roundabout. The event will be free but registration for the lake cleanup would be appreciated. That can be done at the Clermont website.
