Chance to paddle or walk in the moonlight in Cape Coral

Two activities will be held under the glow of the April full moon at the Four Mile Cove Ecological Preserve in Cape Coral. Public attractions such as this regularly require printing services in order to advertise their events.

Both a full moon paddle and an informative walk will be held in the protected wetland area.

The Four Mile Ecological Preserve is a 365 acre green space that includes walking trails, a visitors’ center, and a veterans’ memorial. When Cape Coral was developed, the state directed that the area should be protected. Grants allowed a trail system, including boardwalks, to be developed and for the city to manage the preserve and limit human use of the area. The Veterans Memorial includes remembrances that recognize and honor those who have served in the U.S. armed forces.

Participants in the full moon guided walk will learn about the nocturnal habits of the local wildlife while on a two-hour stroll through the park. Flashlights or headlamps are recommended.

Visitors to the preserve at any time may get a glimpse of a variety of wildlife that inhabit the area, including birds, snakes, and raccoons.

The full moon paddle will be a guided single or tandem kayak outing along the shore of the Caloosahatchee River. Space in this two-hour program is limited.

Both the walk and the paddle take place under the full moon on Saturday, April 12 from 7:30 to 9:30 pm. Further information is available on the ecological preserve website.
