The Freedom 5K and a Kids Fun Run will be held on Independence Day in Cape Coral in support of area charities. Presented by the Chamber of Commerce of Cape Coral, a portion of funds raised will go to support the Brotherhood of Heroes Resource Center and Museum and the Special Operations Communicators Association.
The challenging route for the 5K race will see runners go out and back across the Cape Coral Bridge, which will be closed to traffic on the holiday.
The Kids Fun Run for those under age 12 will take place following the 5K run. Participants will be awarded ribbons and fun run T-Shirts. For the main race, prizes are ready for many categories, including overall male and female finishers and overall age group finishers, as well as first to third place in 15 age groups.
The first 600 main race registrants will receive a commemorative T-shirt. Race participants will receive a sponsored goodie bag with coupons, prizes and more. Businesses and organizations that sponsor events such as this often include Business Cards with their giveaways.
The Freedom 5K and Kids Fun Run will begin at 7 am on July 4, at the Chamber of Commerce, 2051 Cape Coral Parkway. A special fundraiser and recognition ceremony for veterans will be held after the races. Further information and registration is available on the event website.
