Cape Coral to hold landscaping workshop

This month, the Cape Coral Environmental Center will be hosting its Florida Friendly Landscaping (FFL) class.

The Cape Coral Environmental Center invites the community to learn about how people can landscape their gardens while abiding by the rules of Lee County. There will be nine principles that will be discussed during the classes, including lessons such as how to select and place plants, irrigation techniques, and how to properly use mulch and fertilizer. After the workshop, attendees will be allowed to tour the center’s garden to see live examples of Florida friendly plants.

The course is organized by the Lee County Extension Office, which is a division of the University of Florida. The office offers customized education relating to topics in horticulture and agriculture to Florida neighborhoods and organizations like 4-H. Courses like the FFL class can use brochure printing to create informational Booklets that students can bring home to reference later. Other workshops offered by the Lee County Extension Office can be found on its website.

The Florida Friendly Landscaping class will be held on July 26 at 6:00 pm. The course is free to the public, and those interested in attending can register online. There will be other lesson dates that people can attend later in September, October, November, and December in case they are unable to attend this month’s class.
