Dia de Los Muertos - Festival of Skeletons marks its 22nd year as a community arts celebration in Bradenton next month.
The festival is hosted by the Village of the Arts, a small neighborhood of independently owned galleries, shops, cafes and holistic healers, who live and work in their creative spaces.
The vibrant, colorful community opens its doors not only on a regular basis, but also for monthly art walks and special events such as the upcoming festival.
The two-day Dia de Los Muertos celebration is free to attend. The village will be lit up after dark and will feature traditional shrines and altars in honor of loved ones. This year, the festival will recognize esteemed Mexican painter Frida Kayla with a tribute at the central village shrine.
Visitors are encouraged to dress in costume and explore the many merchants offering unique art, handmade crafts, homegrown flavors, and wellness services. There will be live music and additional pop-up vendors.
Flyer printing, as part of advertising, is an important way for grassroots collectives such as members of the Village of the Arts to promote similar events.
Dia de Los Muertos - Festival of Skeletons will be held on Friday, November 6 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm and on Saturday, November 7 from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm at Village of the Arts, 1227 12th Avenue West in Bradenton.
