Arsenic and Old Lace, the classic farcical comedy, will come to the stage in Bradenton next month.
Presented by Concord Theatricals, the live community theater production will run for 18 days next month.
Arsenic and Old Lace was written by Joseph Kesselring in 1939 and opened on Broadway in 1941. It became better known in 1944 on the big screen with Cary Grant playing the lead as Mortimer Brewster. Audiences have been entertained by the dark, mysterious comedy ever since.
Brewster is a manic theater reviewer who discovers that Abby and Martha, his loving aunts who raised him, are murdering old men with poison out of misguided pity.
Chaos erupts with mixed-up identities, hidden truths, and big laughs as Brewster fights to shield his bride-to-be and stop a rising body count.
The play features numerous eccentric characters and provides the audience with both charm and suspense.

Arsenic and Old Lace will be presented from September 3 to 20, 2026, each weekday evening at 7:30 pm, while matinée performances will be held on weekends at 2 pm.
