All through the month of July, Manatee Village Historical Park will be having special hands-on events for families.
Each day has a theme, such as pioneer food day, blacksmith day, or Civil War day. These events are specifically designed for families and geared towards children ages six and over. Each event lasts approximately an hour. Bringing a picnic lunch is recommended, as participants are welcome to stay after the events and enjoy everything else there is to see in the park.
The Manatee Village Historical Park is located in Bradenton, and showcases the history of the area. With 14 separate points of interest covered in this one historical village, it caters to a wide audience. The points of interest include places covering such topics as the history of turpentine, a general store, boatworks, blacksmithing, a smokehouse, a mill, a court house, and a pottery barn. There is even a playground on site for children to use.
The historical village is a nonprofit organization, so it exists off of donations from citizens and Corporate Gifts. Admission is free all the time.
The interactive events will take place every Tuesday in July (July 3, 10, 17, 24, and 31). The free events will include gifts that can be taken home at the end of the day, many of which are items participants have helped make. Registration is required to attend.
