Bradenton to host float event

A grand parade will be held for Bradenton residents this April.

This event is put on by the Desoto Historical Society, and it is the largest and oldest float parade in Florida. It will feature over 150 floats, and it is open to all Southwest Florida residents. Those who wish to participate may find the entry form on the organizers’ website. There will also be advertising opportunities open to interested business owners for a fee, applications for which are available on the website.

Those entering must sign a general release insurance form. Attendees not joining in the parade may view the festivities along the 2.5-mile stretch of the event’s route.

Elected officials and bands, marching or performing, may enter the parade for free. Non-profit, government, and school organizations will pay $535, while businesses will cost $749. There will be floats available for rental, and participants are welcome to add their personalized decor.

Print shops are an inventive way to create material to decorate floats and other equipment for events like this.

The parade starts at 7:00 pm on Saturday, April 30. The route commences at the Manatee High School, located at 902 33rd Street Circuit West, Bradenton, Florida 34205. Those who are participating should enter at the corner of 30th Street West and 9th Avenue West. The float unloads at Manatee Avenue.
