Bradenton library shows off updated features

After a three-month renovation project, the Central Library of Manatee County, located in Bradenton, will be reopening to the public.

According to Library Services Manager Ava Ehde, there were cosmetic improvements to the exterior of the building. Inside, charging stations have been added throughout the facility, as well as a lab with digital equipment for creating audio visual productions. There are also five new study rooms, an area for teens with high top tables providing a collaborative work area, and a new break room that also acts as a demonstration kitchen.

The library will also be connected to the new chiller plant for the County in the downtown area, which is designed to reduce energy costs in downtown Bradenton. There were also upgrades to the ceiling and flooring, and a new fire alarm system was installed.

In addition, proceeds of $100,000 from the Stephen King fundraiser held in January by the Manatee Library Foundation are going towards enhanced access to library materials and Catalogs, as well as new community connection features.

The reopening date is Monday, May 11, at 10:00 am. Patrons will also be able to see the renovations with a ‘Recycled Dreams’ fashion show at 1:00 p.m. on May 16, where local teenagers showcase original clothing made from recycled materials. Most likely the Library is using flyer printing companies to highlight more details about the renovations and new features for patrons.
