Being a good environmental steward often involves getting one’s hands dirty, and an upcoming Washington service project will be showing some love to a local greenspace.
Theodore Roosevelt Island Weed Warriors is a grassroots-level group that works to keep the ecosystems of Theodore Roosevelt Island healthy. The organization has scheduled a project that will help to remove invasive plants, and all help will be welcome.
Those who volunteer for the day will meet up at the entrance to the Theodore Roosevelt Bridge, and everyone has been asked to bring some secateurs and sturdy work gloves. Long sleeves and thick pants are recommended, as is bottled water. There are lots of jobs to be done, including removing invasive vines such as ivy and honeysuckle and chopping brush so it can be taken away. The venue can be reached by public transit, and limited parking may be available.
Many people may be interested in getting involved with environmental stewardship but just don’t know how to get started. A community service project can help them to get their feet wet, and stickers, lanyards, reusable shopping Totes, and other Promotional Products can be prepared in advance to handout as thank-you tokens to the attendees.
This chance to be part of the removal of invasive plants movement is scheduled for Sunday, February 18. More details are available on the event’s online listing.Get a Free Quote for Promotional Products Get a Free Quote for Totes
