The recipients of the Harold Webster Smith Awards were recently announced by the Small Business Council of the Waterbury Regional Chamber.
Individuals and companies are recognized through these awards for their excellence and achievement in business of a small scale. A breakfast was held to honor the recipients.
The Small Business of the Year was awarded to Campion Ambulance Service Inc. in Waterbury. Entrepreneur of the Year is Nicole Maiorano, owner of Middlebury-based Karmic Inspirations, and Manufacturer of the Year is The Siemon Company in Watertown.
A special recognition was given to James Smith, who is a long-time supporter of the Waterbury Regional Chamber and recently retired as CEO of Webster Bank. Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Chamber, William Pizzuto, Ph.D., said that Smith, through his generous engagement and outreach has been a”exceptional” in his contribution.
Karmic Inspirations was opened by Maiorano to inspire people to find their passions and follow their dreams, and has encouraged several women to open their own businesses. Campion Ambulance Service is involved in many charities and community organizations in Greater Waterbury, while The Siemon Company supports the mentoring program for Watertown elementary schools and their FIRST Robotics Competition.
