Olympic medalist to speak to Waterbury audience

An evening of inspiration is just around the corner in Waterbury, as a 12-time Olympic medalist has been announced as the keynote speaker at an event in town.

The Comeback: An Inspiring Evening with Dara Torres is coming to a Waterbury venue this November to allow Dara Torres, a five-time Olympian, to share her stories of perseverance, growth, and determination with the city’s residents. Torres, who is a former world record-holder, will center much of the experience on the power of getting back up after failing and the beauty of making a comeback.

The experience is being put together with assistance from UCONN Health’s Waterbury Hospital and the city’s YMCA. Torres was chosen to headline this event because of her comeback at 41 years of age to win an Olympic medal in swimming later in life than any other swimmer in the competition’s history. Organizers can use brochure printing through a local Print shop to provide an informative document about the evening’s agenda while sharing the speaker’s career achievements.

The audience can participate in a live Q-and-A session after Torres’ presentation. It will end with desserts and conversations to keep the event’s energy going.

Naugatuck Valley Community College in Waterbury is hosting Dara Torres and the presentation, which starts at 4:30pm on Thursday, November 5th. Donations of $20 are encouraged from attendees, with the proceeds supporting the Waterbury YMCA and CT State Naugatuck Valley Foundation.
