Virtual birthing class to help Middletown parents

Next month, Middlesex Health will host the virtual Childbirth Preparation Express Class to help Middletown expecting mothers and their partners prepare for their child’s birth.

Middlesex Health is a comprehensive healthcare network serving Central Connecticut in areas such as Middletown, Westbrook, and Cromwell. Some of its services include providing workshops for the community, such as September’s childbirth class for Middletown.

Originally an in-person class, the Childbirth Preparation Express class has moved to an online format due to rising COVID-19 cases. Attendees will be able to attend a virtual class lead by a birthing instructor. Expecting parents will learn what they can expect during the labor and childbirth process. They will also gain knowledge about the mechanics of labor and delivery, and why things happen the way they do. At the end of the class, students will come away with effective coping techniques and strategies for dealing with the entire labor experience.
Such virtual workshops often rely on the skills of graphic design artists to prepare the hosting website for online visitors.

The Childbirth Preparation Express Class is scheduled for Saturday, September 4, from 10:00 am to 2:30 pm. Registration is required to attend and is $90 per couple. To register, parents can visit Middlesex Health’s website and fill out the registration form. For more information, email nursenavigator@midhosp.org or call 860-358-7324.
