It is almost time for the Middletown 5K Summer Fun Run, and once again Citizens Bank will be the title sponsor. This will be the 18th year for the run, which coincides with Middletown’s yearly festival.
The event traditionally draws a big crowd, providing thousands of spectators to cheer on the 5K runners as well as the Kid Fun Run participants. This year’s race will once again start on Main Street in Middletown and continue on a loop through the historic Wesleyan campus before returning to Main Street and the finish line. Several team competitions will be a featured part of the race this year.
A technical running shirt will be given to the first 500 5K entrants, while all participants in the noncompetitive ½ mile Kids Run will be presented with a T-shirt and finisher’s ribbon. There is no entry fee for the Kids Run, which includes the Oddfellows street performers running alongside the children and spurring them on.
This type of event is a perfect example of when using a banner printing service can be particularly helpful. A banner strung across a busy thoroughfare, advertising an event that takes place on that street, can make for a particularly effective means of advertising.
The festival take place on July 23, 4:30 pm to 9:00 pm and will feature live entertainment, a moonwalk, the Oddfellows street performers, a giant slide, and food vendors. The Kids Fun Run starts at 6:30 pm and the 5K starts at 6:45 pm.
