Middletown gears up for entertaining holiday season

There’s no mistaking that the holiday season is in full swing around Connecticut. The Middletown streets may be devoid of snow for the moment, but the shops, houses and street lamps are all alive with the lights, bells, tinsel, and ribbons of Christmas.

Connecticut’s citizens still have plenty of options to celebrate in style before the big day. In Waterbury, at the Seven Angels Theatre, there is ‘Christmas at Earlene’s Diner’, staring local restaurateur Earlene Babcock, who will be offering up some comedy, music. and holiday cheer. Those on the naughty list, however, may prefer comic Rob Barlette, who will be performing at the theatre for New Year’s Eve. Both shows are sponsored by local businesses, and will feature a variety of knickknacks, coupons, and other goodies perhaps produced with the help of local Print companies.

For the third year in a row, Hartford TheaterWorks is presenting ‘Christmas on the Rocks’, an original production that features Christmas favorites like Tiny Tim, Cindy Lou Who, and the Grinch killing time in a local bar. For those looking for more traditional performance, there is the Ivoryton Playhouse, which will be performing carols and songs up until Sunday, December 20, in ‘I’ll be Home For Christmas’.
