Halloween-themed run/walk planned in Middletown

The Hartford Marathon Foundation (HMF) will host the Harvard Pilgrim Middletown 10 Mile and Bootiful Run/Walk this October, providing residents with a fun outdoor activity while also benefiting a local charity.

HMF is a non-profit that organizes various road races from 5Ks to marathons in the states of Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts. The Harvard Pilgrim Middletown event will feature a fun 3.56-mile run/walk and a 10-mile marathon. Both courses will run through the Wesleyan University campus to the historic downtown, with the Bootiful Run/Walk finishing there, while the 10-mile course will head into Wadsworth State Forest.

The Bootiful Run/Walk is open to all, regardless of age or ability, with colorful Halloween costumes encouraged. The 10-mile run is a more serious event and is recommended for those who have previous training or experience. Participants of both races will receive a stylized medal and a long-sleeved technical shirt with the event’s Logo Design.

Proceeds from the racing event will go towards Middletown’s Amazing Grace Food Pantry, an organization that helps low-income families get access to groceries. HMF will also be holding a canned food drive during packet pickup and on race day for those wanting to donate non-perishable food items.

The day of running and walking is slated for Sunday, October 31. To register and to find out more information, visit HMF’s website.
