West Hartford welcomes bestselling author

Anita Diamant, who has written eight successful nonfiction Books including ‘The Red Tent’, will speak in West Hartford later this month.

Diamant will be the guest of the Women’s Network of Beth El Temple. Her talk will be about ‘The Boston Girl’, which is her most recent book.

Diamant’s new book explores the life of 22-year old Ava, the ‘Boston Girl’ of the title. Ava asks Addie, her grandmother of 85 years of age, how she got to be the woman she is. Ava is trapped between parents who insist on holding tightly to tradition, and what she sees of today’s life and society. The book considers Ava’s desire to reconcile the new world with the old, and find a way to explore new opportunities in everything from careers and clothing, to religion and education.

As well as learning about the new publication, guests will have the opportunity to buy Books, and an American Sign Language interpreter will assist those with hearing difficulties.

Event planners might want to work with a poster printing company to create colorful displays Posters to put in windows in Hartford, advertising the event.

Diamant will appear at Beth El Temple, 2626 Albany Avenue, West, in West Hartford. The event is scheduled for April 20 at 7.30 pm. The event costs $25 to attend if booked in advance, $30 on the day, or $54 to reserve a seat as a patron.
