Summer pops concerts scheduled

A popular event is returning to Hartford, and people will have three chances to enjoy the music.

The 3rd Annual Outdoor Summer Pops Concerts on Church Street consists of a main act and an opening act, with the performances held on Christ Church Cathedral’s outdoor terrace. The venue is directly opposite Hartford Stage, where banner printing can be used to create suitable outdoor decorations for events like this.

The main act is the Golden Scroll Soloists Pop String Quartet, featuring Pedro Cirilo, a vocalist and guitarist from Peru. The group blends jazz, classical, and pop music into a unique experience of the string quartet.

A review describes the Soloists as:

“ . . . amazingly talented. Their arrangements of songs from the classics, rock, jazz, and top forty chart toppers are all masterpieces . . .”

The opening act is the Music Moves Hartford Street Choir, which comprises those Hartford residents who are facing homelessness. The choir performs in two locations weekly, a shelter and a soup kitchen, and has become popular throughout the city, performing for cultural events and bringing attention to the issue of homelessness in Hartford.

The three dates for the concerts are July 22, with a rain date of July 29; August 19, with a rain date of August 26; and September 9, with a rain date of September 16. On all days, the choir performs from 11:30 am until 12:00 pm, with the Golden Scroll Soloists performing from 12:00 pm until 1:30 pm.
