A registered dietitian will provide those who live in Hartford and the surrounding communities with information to get them on the road to a healthier life.
Katie, a registered dietitian with Food Explorers, will give tips and strategies for getting the new year off on the right foot. She will explain why fad diets usually do not work and provide a variety of healthy alternatives that will also tempt the palate.
While this event will be offered online, it will still be an interactive experience. The learners will be able to cook along with the instructor. She will walk the group through the steps in preparing healthful sweet potato fajita bowls with guacamole, and each person who plans on participating will need to supply their own sweet potatoes, brown rice, lime, and olive oil, and also a pepper, and avocado, and one red onion. Other starches may be substituted for the brown rice.
The plan is for this event to take place using the Zoom virtual platform. If the registrants in this sort of activity provide their contact details to the organizers, they will be able to send out printed Copies of the recipe, and these can be prepared for the occasion by area Print shops.
Registration for this activity, which has been scheduled for January 12, will open on December 15. It can be done online or by calling the organizer at 860-652-7720.
