What's Happening in Hartford, CT…

A major retail space and food hall should open on schedule, according to a recent article in the Hartford Courant.

City officials recently toured the new development, at which time the developers, Carlos Mouta and his daughter Chelsea, said the project will open on time, despite facing delays when problems were discovered with the original structure. The market is located in a warehouse nearly 100 years old. The site was formerly the Bishop Ladder Company, and covers 20,000 square feet. There will be stalls built for vendors on two floors.

A visitor to the food hall will come through a garage-door-type, glass entry that will remain open when the weather is warm. They will find themselves in a communal dining space with professional cooking spaces on all sides, all rented by local eateries. When the weather is good, the restaurants will be able to serve people outside on the terraces located on either side of the building.

An elevator will lead to the second floor, where retailers and a demonstration kitchen will be located. A bar that can be used as an event space is also located on the upper level.

Chelsea Mouta said it is hoped that the new market will become a community hub, and they would like to add a coffee shop, butcher, hairdresser, and barber to the tenant mix. Flyer printing can be used to create a handout for visitors to spaces like this.

Parkville Market should open in December.
