Monster Jam coming to Hartford

An event for extreme sports lovers is on the way to Hartford—the Monster Jam.

Drivers of vehicles with names like the “Grave Digger,” “Hurricane Force,” and “Iron Outlaw” will be on hand to showcase their trucks, and the skills it takes to drive them.

These vehicles are specially built; each is about 17 feet in length, 12.5 feet wide, and about 10.5 feet tall. They weigh about 12,000lb, and have engines that are capable of generating 1,500 horsepower. The shock absorbers are charged with nitrogen and the tires are huge, 43 inches in width and 66 inches in diameter, weighing 645lb each.

Monster Jam enthusiasts can enjoy a Pit Party where they can see the trucks close up, talk to the drivers, take photos, and get a few autographs. A review of a Monster Jam event called it a unique experience that is suitable for all ages, and that seems to appeal particularly to awestruck children.

The event will be in Hartford on February 8 and 9, at the XL Center downtown, with the Pit Party from 10:30 until 12:00 noon both days. The gates open at 12:00 noon on February 8 for the 1:00 pm show; and again at 6:00 pm for the 7:00 pm show. On February 9, the gates open at 12:00 noon for the 1:00 pm show. Banner printing can be used to create exciting decorations for this type of event.
