The love of rock is not confined to oldsters who are still following the Rolling Stones, and now a band with material aimed at young rockers is coming to Hartford.
The Imagination Movers are Scott “Smitty” Smith, Dave Poche, Scott Durbin, and Rich Collins, four friends who lived in New Orleans. In 2003, they got the idea that children deserved music written especially for them, and got together after their children were in bed to think about a television show for kids, and to write appropriate songs.
Two years after they started, the Movers were attracting families to the shows they performed in their home city, featuring songs about such childhood concerns as playing catch, eating healthier foods, and being afraid to go to bed. Their popularity eventually landed them their own show on the Disney Channel.
A New York Times review of the Movers says the group is:
“…prized by many parents for non-condescending lyrics and music that evokes the Beastie Boys or Red Hot Chili Peppers.”
The Imagination Movers will appear on January 26 at the Infinity Music Hall in Hartford. The doors open at 3:00 pm, with the show beginning at 4:00 pm. A Meet & Greet event is being held before the show, but admittance to this party does not include the concert, which requires its own ticket. Banner printing can be used to create fun decorations for events like this.
