Those interested in joining a run to support a non-profit organization can participate in a race this April in Hartford.
The Greater Hartford Quarter Marathon is a fundraising event that benefits the Connecticut chapter of Achilles International. Racers will get to take on a course that passes several local reservoirs. Finishers who place within the top three times of their gender category will receive an award, and all participants will receive a finisher medal from Ashworth Awards. Post-race treats will be served to the attending athletes, and an egg hunt will be held for the younger viewers.
Achilles International is a group that has branches in 18 countries and is headquartered in New York City. The non-profit uses its resources to help empower athletes with disabilities from around the world. The organization pairs athletes with guides who can tailor exercises appropriate for their physical abilities. Those who want to support Achilles International can volunteer to help the group with fundraising and training.
The quarter marathon will take place on Saturday, April 1 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. The cost to attend the fundraising event is $55 per athlete. The registration cost will include a T-shirt, entries into the event’s raffles, and access to the organizer’s Facebook page.
