David Rosado, Hartford's Chief of Police, will be leaving his post soon to return to the private sector, where he will join Pratt & Whitney, according to a post on the city's website. He has been in public service for over 20 years.
City officials say they will use a nationwide search to find a replacement for Chief Rosado, with new Business Cards likely to be needed once a successor is found. In the interim, Jason Thody, who is currently the Assistant Chief, will step in to fill the position.
Hartford's mayor, Luke Bronin, said he was grateful to Chief Rosado for his many years of service to the city. He described Rosado as someone with a great deal of experience, as well as “deep roots” in the Hartford community, both of which served him well during his tenure as chief. Bronin also said that Rosado's work has helped strengthen the department, particularly in the last year.
For his part, Rosado said the decision was difficult, particularly as he is proud to lead and work with the members of the Hartford Police. He is particularly proud of having brought body cameras into the department, and recruiting a more culturally diverse force. However, he explained that his family has always come first, and the move to the private sector is a good decision for them. Get a Free Quote for Business Cards
