Hartford Hospital holds successful fundraiser

On Saturday, February 6, Hartford Hospital's biggest event of the year took place at The Bushnell, the city's performing arts center.

The evening saw this year’s Black & Red Gala, the hospital's signature fundraising event. The evening included a performance by the band Chicago, dancing, and a reception featuring hors d'oeuvres, cocktails, and fine cuisine. The reception spread over The Bushnell's three floors, as well as the stage of the Belding Theater.

Hartford Hospital's president, Dr. Stuart Markowitz said the gala is always a “great event”, but since this was the 25th such party, it was a truly spectacular evening. Markowitz went on to say that the event was about celebrating the accomplishments and innovations the hospital has brought to the city. It also gave the hospital the chance to recognize, celebrate, and thank those sponsors and donors who allowed the hospital to bring the finest care to its patients.

Among the guests at the gala were Hartford's mayor, Luke Bronin and his wife Sara; Dr. Courtland G. Lewis and his wife Barbara; and Congresswoman Elizabeth Esty. Dr. Lewis is physician in chief of the Hartford HealthCare Bone & Joint Institute at Hartford Hospital, which was designated as the recipient of the funds raised at this year's event.

Hospital officials might consider working with a printing company to create fun Holiday Cards for next season, using photos from the gala.
