Hartford gets set for beer festival

Craft beers have become more and more popular across the nation, but Connecticut stands out for the flavorful beers made in the state. Its beer culture will be celebrated at the upcoming Small State Great Beer Festival.

At least 34 breweries from throughout the state will attend, among which are three local Hartford breweries: Hog River, Hanging Hills, and City Steam.

Festival attendees will be able to taste the beers, enjoy various foods, and listen to live music. Among the musicians scheduled to play the festival are the Balkun Brothers, Son Little, RJD2, and Connie Carmona. Goodies like Pint Glasses and T-Shirts will be available for sale.

Envisionfest will take place before the Great Beer Festival. Envisionfest is a daylong celebration of activities in the city, with the emphasis on Hartford’s walkability. Many of the arts institutions and museums will have free admission and special events. People can ride Bushnell Park’s carousel for free starting at 9:00 am, and Hartford’s hip-hop artists will perform near Burr Mall’s stegosaurus sculptures, and on the terrace of the public library on Main Street.

Envisionfest starts at 9:00 am on Saturday, September 17, with the Small State Great Beer Festival running from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm in Constitution Plaza downtown the same day.

Events like these can be enhanced if organizers display colorful Banners throughout the venue.
