Hartford genealogist society to give Zoom presentation

The Connecticut Society of Genealogists, Inc. in Hartford will be organizing a webinar in January.

Location, Location, Location: The Oblong of Dutchess, Putnam & Westchester Counties is an online presentation where attendees can learn about a local stretch of land and how to look up information about the ancestors who lived there. The leader of the lecture is Judith Herbert, who is a genealogy teacher in New York’s Capital District. She has experience mentoring for the ProGen 38 Study Group and is currently a member of The Record publication’s editorial board.

The Connecticut Society of Genealogists is a group founded in 1968 that wishes to acquire and preserve local genealogy records. The organization hosts several educational programs each year and teaches its members how to maintain records. The society also offers virtual research help sessions held over Zoom.

People interested in becoming part of the genealogist society can pay $35 for a basic membership, which includes access to genealogy news and The Connecticut Nutmegger. Lifetime memberships cost $700. All members of the organization will also receive a membership card.

The Zoom call will be held on Thursday, January 19 and will begin at 6:30 pm. There is no price to view Herbert’s online lecture, though registration is required. Organizations that offer public classes similar to this may utilize poster printing to make ads for their seminars.
