Free course offered for college bound students

The University of Saint Joseph in West Hartford will be offering a free course next month. The classes will provide college-bound students with an opportunity to get advance credit.

The summer program at the university will be held in-person at the campus for four weeks. It has been designed for first year students who have been accepted into a program starting at the college, in September 2021. Attendees will receive an advance credit for a college level three-credit course.

The program will include math skills, studying best practices, how to take notes in class, essay writing tips, and training workshops. The classes will also discuss ways to manage stress, and maintain health and wellness during the first year at college. Students will have the opportunity to participate in fun relationship-building activities with their fellow classmates. Printing services may be used to create course materials distributed to students in classes like this.

The University of Saint Joseph was established in 1932. Today, it offers more than 25 undergraduate and over 30 graduate programs, with a student-to-professor ratio of eight to one.

The classes will be held for four weeks on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, starting on July 12 and ending on August 5. The daily schedule will begin with workshops at 9:00 AM, a lunch break from 12:00 to 1:00 PM, followed by a course lecture from 1:00 to 4:00 PM. Students will be required to attend classes in person, at the main college campus, located at 1678 Asylum Avenue in West Hartford. The classes are being offered free of charge, but spaces are limited. Registration in advance is required via the university's website.
