Development center to open in West Hartford

The Town of West Hartford and the Connecticut Small Business Development Center (CTSBDC) have teamed up to provide free business advice to entrepreneurs in every sector, and in every business development stage. The CTSBDC offices will be in the West Hartford Town Hall.

Denise Whitford, the CTSBDC Business Adviser, who will be working at the new location, has said she is happy to be in West Hartford, since locating the agency there will be enable her to help both existing and new businesses in West Hartford. She hopes to facilitate growth there and encourage businesses to remain in the area.

CTSBDC's state director, Joe Ercolano, noted there are over 340,000 small businesses in Connecticut, which makes it important for advisers to be located in the communities they serve, which is why they are opening in West Hartford. Ercolano says that working in a city helps his agency better understand local needs, which in turn allows advisers to provide customized advice to entrepreneurs, to help economic development in the area increase.

Shari Cantor, the mayor of West Hartford, says entrepreneurs will be given access to town staffers to help meet their needs. In order to explain their services fully, companies like this can use brochure printing to create informative Booklets about them.

Whitford will be available by appointment only, between 9.00 am and 4.00 pm on Thursdays. Interested parties can register with Whitford by phone at 860-576-5135 or they can visit www.ctsbdc.com and register online.
