Arvada summer means movies and festival

Summer is upon us, and Arvada is looking forward to Movies Around Town and Arvada Days over the coming months.

Although the first movie in the Movies Around Town series was cancelled due to the weather, the next one will be Friday, July 14 in Homestead Park. Colorado Batch will provide the live music and the show will be Top Gun: Maverick. On Friday, August 11, the movie School of Rock will be shown at Griffith Station Park. The Broomfield School of Rock will be the live band. A viewer’s choice movie will be on September 5 at Forest Springs Park, with live music provided by Hunter Lepi. All movies will begin at sundown.

Also, Hyland Hills Park & Recreation District and the Arvada Festivals Commission are once again co-sponsoring the Arvada Days festival. Attendees at the four-hour can expect to see magic shows, hear local bands at the Boredom Fighters music tent, and enjoy brews at the beer garden with profits benefiting Ralston House. Kids can enjoy inflatables, train rides, and a Nerf zone.

Food trucks will be vending summer treats, while crafters will be selling their hand-made wares. Local non-profit organizations and businesses will have booths onsite distributing Business Cards and leaflets with information about their goods and services.

Arvada Days will take place Saturday, August 19 from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm at Clear Creek Valley Park, Tennyson Street and 58th.
